In the band at the time were drummer Terry Williams…on loan from Dire Straits who were on down time, Bassist Mickey Feat, Electric guitarist Phil Palmer and on keyboards and Hammond Organ the late Kenny Craddock. My second album ‘True For You’ was not long out so we concentrated on those songs mostly..Not The Only One, Steel Claw, Take Me Away, Dance The Romance and Helpless Heart as well as a few faves like Crazy Dreams. We were all pretty exhausted having driven across from England in a freezing cold van with no sleep so it was a surreal experience playing through a mental fog for an audience seeing me for the first time. Looking back at it all these years later on this newly released DVD/CD pack, it comes across a lot better than I remember it. A long ago look into the young me slowly finding my voice. Available at
Hi all. Things are moving very fast. Last week I played guitar and piano onstage for the first time since the Gig For Gaza in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre last September. A month ago I wasn’t sure if I’d ever play again. I’m finally realising that I can do it now. Still stiff and a little sore but getting better all the time.
But I wasn’t expecting to be working so soon. I had planned some shows in April and May because …well, you have to plan shows way in advance even before you know if you can do them! I was looking forward to Feb and March to complete my recovery and was confident. But now I’m being asked to play with the Ulster Orchestra in The Waterfront Theatre, Belfast on Mar 3 for a BBC TV recording of a St Patrick’s Day show and…I’m going to do it. I plan to sing two songs, a new song called Oceans Of Time and Nobody Knows. Then it’s concerts in Limerick (April 10), Ratoath (23 & 24 April), Cork (25 April) and Dublin (May 15) all details on the tour dates page.Read More

On Friday October 7th I was presented with the 2011 Alumnus Illustrissimus award for distinguished past pupils by my old school St Columb’s College, Derry ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Columb%27s_College) . The award itself is a beautiful piece of sculpture by my friend the late Eamon O’Doherty representing the voyage of St Columba and his fellow monks to the island of Iona in the year 563 AD. Previous recipients of the award are:Read More
